ISLAMABAD: Cable operator of Pakistan has announced to disconnect the cable services all over the country for 24 hours on Saturday to protest against the raid by Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) on the offices of cable operators.
President Cable Association Pakistan (CAP) Khalid Arrain, said that all the channels, excluding the National TV, will be closed at 12PM on Saturday to protest against PEMRA’s illegal raid on the offices of cable operator in which they took the cable operating machinery with them.
Arrain, said that the protest duration will be extended if PEMRA will not give back the stuff they have taken with them from the operators.
He said that if their demands not accepted they will not only extend the duration of protest but also change the numbering of TV channels.
It is pertinent to mention that an important match between Pakistan and Australia will also be played on Saturday. Without the cable services, the Pakistani viewers can only watch that match on PTV home.
