ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir has demanded the AJK government to hold elections in the last week of May so that the new government could present next budget.
This was demanded by Central Executive Committee of Pakistan People Party , which was held here at Central Peoples Secretariat on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chaudhary Abdul Majeed , President PPP AJK.
After the meeting Chaudhary Abdul Majeed briefed the media men about the decisions of the meeting . He was flanked by General Secretary Latif Akbar and Secretary Information PPP AJK Matloob Inqalabi.
He said that the PPP AJK would contest election alone as it would not go for any electoral alliance. However if some small parties would request PPP, it would be considered latter.
“If Sardar Ateeq would not hold elections before May , then PPP have many other options which would be revealed afterward”, responding a question Matloob Inqalabi added.
“The elections would be held in free and fair manner and parliamentary board of party would seek applications from the interested workers of the party soon”, Majeed added.
He said that meeting stressed the AJK Election Commission to hold free fair and impartial elections in Azad Kashmir and any documentary proof of the voter might be declared necessary at the time of polling so that every voter could use his constitutional right.
The information secretary of the PPP AJK told the media that the demand of holding election before its scheduled time , is not an unconstitutional demand as per constitution election could be held before 60 days from end of term.
He said that PPP AJK would hold public meetings from 15 March through out AJK. The mass contact campaign would continue till elections. In addition to this the party would open its offices on every tehsil as well as district level in entire AJK.
On the occasion Faisal Rathore son of former Prime Minister AJK Mumtaz Hussain Rathore also announced to join PPP AJK unconditionally by saying that his father sacrificed a lot for the sake of the party. The others leaders including Maj(R) Yousaf and Chaudhary Abdul Aziz also joined PPP AJK by leaving All Kashmir Muslim Conference.
