Dead body of Col. Imam discovered alongside South Waziristan roadside

MIRANSHAH: The dead body of Col. Imam, whose killing by Tehrik-e- Taliban was shrouded in quite a controversy for months, has finally been discovered alongside a South Waziristan roadside.

Media reports that he was abducted on 02March 2010, alongwith two others, and his video had been released yesterday, in which the head of Tehrik-e-Taliban, Hakeem ullah Mehsud was filmed as announcing the death sentence over ransom demands not being fulfilled.

Col Imam and two others, British journalist Asad Qurieshi and former intelligence operative Khalid Khawaja had tried to penetrate Waziristan’s forbidden borders in order to film a documentary and meet Taliban leaders.

The abductors had freed the British journalist, Asad Qurieshi, but had killed Khalid Khawaja, earlier.
