MUZAFFARABAD : Training programmes and workshops help in capacity building of teachers in educational institutions and AJK Varsity will continue its endeavors to promote quality education in AJK, said Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ghous, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University while addressing concluding ceremony of a workshop on “English Language Teaching” here at Muzaffarad on Feb 11, 2011.
Dr. Ghous said that AJK Varsity is striving hard to promote research based education and is focusing on teacher training programmes. He expressed pleasure and satisfaction over the successful completion of training programme and extended his gratitude towards the British Council for offering such highly valuable academic/ educational activities in the University.
The training workshop offered by the British Council aimed at enhancing professional expertise of English language teachers. It covered various important aspects and issues of teaching language such as listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and error correction. The resource persons for the training programme hailed from Australia and U.K.
Around 25 participants were awarded course completion certificates in the concluding/ closing ceremony by the Vice Chancellor of the University of AJK and officials of the British Council Islamabad.
The trainers described their professional experience as gratifying and memorable. The participant teachers/ faculty from the university, government colleges and schools thanked the University and British Council for conducting the said programme successfully and hoped to benefit from such opportunities in the future as well. Prof. Dr. Raja Nasim Akhter, Dean Faculty of Arts, Chris Batchelor, Teacher Developer British Council, Malik Muhammad Farooq Teacher Developer British Council, Mrs. Nazia Akbar Kiani and Sabir Hussain Naqvi also expressed their views on the occasion.
