Speakers of seminar demand protection of children

ISLAMABAD: Speakers of a seminar with title on Impacts of 18th Amendment on Children of Pakistan said that the government should introduce effective protection systems for children, adding that the Provincial administration should give priority to the issues of Children, as they could play very effective role to introduce efficient legislation for the Protection of Children from all kind of abuse & Exploitation.
The Chief Guest of the Seminar Rana Mashhood Ahmad said that Pakistan was among the very 20 countries, which signed and ratified that UNCRC. The constitution of Pakistan empowers the state to make special provisions for the protection of the children exclusively.
There is a great need of joint efforts of NGOs working on Child Rights and Government Departments so concrete steps could be taken for the Protection of the rights of Children. Office of Deputy Speaker is open for NGOs working on Child Rights to come and bring the issues of Children specifically into the notice of mine, I assure you that my efforts will be with you for the betterment of future of Pakistan.
I. A Rehman in his remarks said that in 18th Amendment Education declared as right of Children which was not before the amendment. But the matter of concern is that uniformity of rights in every part of the country should be assured. The growing violence against Children reminds us of the importance of legislation and mechanisms for the protection of Children.
Ms. Manizeh Bano Executive Director Sahil shared in detail the Child Protection systems comprising on School Administration, Parents, Health professional, Police or Law enforcement agencies and Shelter homes, Community Members etc.
Mr. Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami emphasize that the media should play a vital role to raise the awareness on Child Rights among the masses. He said that Government should focus to increase the quality of Education in the Province.
Begum Zakia Shahnawaz in her concluding remarks said that the Chief Minister Punjab is very interested to reduce the problems of Children. She said that the CM Punjab’s particularly focusing on Health and Education Issues.
