Muzaffarabad: The university of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has awarded its first regular PhD Degree to Asad Hussain Shah.
Mr. Asad, completed his PhD Degree “1st PhD Scholar” at the Department of Plant Breeding & Molecular Genetics, Faculty of Agriculture Rawalakot, University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
His Thesis was evaluated by Two Referees from Technologically Advanced countries (Holland and United Kingdom) and third referee from Pakistan.
He worked under the Supervision of Professor Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi (Dean Faculty of Agriculture Rawalakot) on “Molecular and biochemical characterization in relation to important biochemical’s and improvement of Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhmnoides L.) for commercial cultivation in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Sea buckthorn is a magic plant having great medicinal value (rich in vitamins, minerals, phytocholestrol and falvonides), nitrogen fixer and capable of growing under extreme environments.
During his PhD 6 Research articles in Impact Factor Journals were published by the group on the same plant.
He was the 1st among the 7 PhD Scholars in the department and will be followed by others soon.
