RAWALPINDI: Islamabad police have presented the interim challan of Mumtaz Qadri self-confessed assassinator of Governor Salman Taseer, in special court of Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) for indictment here on Monday.
Islamabad police have submitted the interim challan of Mumtaz Qadri, personnel of Punjab police, in ATC to indict him. The judge has provided the photocopies of the challan to the defense lawyers. The hearing would be held on Ist February for indicting the accused.
According to the notification issued by provincial government, Ikhlaq Hussain judge of the special court has started jail in camera trial. Mumtaz Qadri was presented before the court. Advocate Tariq Dhamiyaal Qadri appeared before the court on behalf of Mumtaz Qadri.
The lawyer has presented a petition on behalf of Mumtaz Qadri’s family that they should be permitted to meet with Mumtaz Qadri. The court has fixed 26 January for arguments on the petition.
Talking to media Defense lawyer Tariq Dhamiyaal said that the police did not include the statement of Mumtaz Qadri recorded under section 164 in the challan.
He said that so far Mufti Haneef Qureshi and Mumtaz Shah’s names are concerned, they are not mentioned in the challan.
He said that Mumtaz Qadri is being held in solitary confinement due to which he is suffering from health diseases so he should be permitted to meet with his family.
