Taseer’s body arrives in Lahore; funeral today

LAHORE: Body of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer has been flown into the city aboard a plane from Chaklala Airport, Islamabad.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, body’s post mortem was conducted at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

The governor of Punjab province was shot dead near his Islamabad home on Tuesday, in a brazen assassination.

Dozens of PPP supporters took to the streets in Punjab’s capital Lahore, burning tyres and blocking traffic on Tuesday as shops quickly closed, witnesses said.

Spent cartridges and blood stained the road in Islamabad’s Kohsar Market F6 sector, just a short distance from where Taseer kept a home. The funeral for the eternal peace of Taseer will be offered at 1am today at Governor House.
