Dramatic twist revealed about Clifton gang rape case

KARACHI: The recent case of gang rape of a girl in Defence area of, Karachi has taken a new twist as investigations progress ahead.
Police statement about the case, have revealed that the women were heading back home at 0200 midnight after attending a private party, when they were allegedly blocked by four persons in Khayaban-e-Iqbal, who dislodged one of them and abducted her.
The abducted girl was gang raped and discarded at Khayaban-e-Qasim, whence the affected girl informed her friend, and both retired to their homes.
At 0900 hrs, next morning, both women went to Jinnah Hospital, from where they were redirected to Civil Hospital for a medical checkup, which confirmed gang rape with her, and a case was registered.
The Governor and CM both took strong notice of the issue and home minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza also ordered submitting of the report within 24 hours.
But the entire episode took a dramatic turn when the special information advisor to CM, Sindh, Sharmila Farooqi visited jail to meet the affected girl, and was confused and doubtful over constant changes in the version of the assaulted girl’s story.
To add fuel to fire, the police informed the CM’s advisor that one of the women was also indicted in two cases of adultery and obscenity.
However details are bound to come after a detailed investigation of the case
Meanwhile DIG, South, Iqbal Mahmood has formed two police teams under SP Clifton, Tariq Dharejo, which have started their investigations, while Ishaq Lashari has been appointed as investigations officer of the case, who would also question the girls.
Police sources have informed that they had also arrested two persons in this connection, one of which has been identified as Lal Chand, at whose house the dance party was arranged.
