“Do more” slogans not acceptable anymore: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmud Qureshi said raising slogans of ‘do more’ would have to concentrate on other side of the border as Pakistan has been cooperating more than of its capacity in war against terror.

He was talking to a private TV Channel before leaving for Turkey on Tuesday. He said Pakistan has paid a heavy price in war against terror more than any country.

Talking about Waziristan operation, he said we are moving forward according to our needs and a planned strategy, while decision of operation will be taken while keeping the circumstances ahead.

Regarding Pak-India composite dialogues, he told Pakistan is ready to hold dialogues, but they must be result oriented. “Pakistan desires good ties with India”, Qureshi termed.

Foreign Minister informed, “New Delhi has invited Pakistan for dialogues and definitely we will visit, but both the countries can only uproot the outstanding issue if we have decided for, and Pakistan is ready for it.”

He further said “we will fully cooperate with Iran so as to eradicate terrorism from the region because Pakistan herself is among the affectees”. Terrorism is a common predicament and we aim to cooperate, he inserted. He said Pakistan intermittently shares information with Iran regarding terrorism and to its elimination, need of hour, demands other countries to cooperate too.

Talking about Sino-Pak relations, he said three agreements inked recently with China are of immense importance, and one of them is opening of bank branches, which will swell the bilateral trades. Secondly, both the countries will instigate their imports and exports in local currencies, which will also help us to increase our local trade.

Third agreement is related to devising new energy framework as China is interested in investing in energy and agriculture sector. Sino-Pak ties have laid the milestone of new arena, Qureshi claimed.
