Swati, Kazmi removed from their portfolios

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has removed Azam Swati, Minister for Science and Technology and Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Minister for Religious Affairs from their portfolios.

Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Agha Sarwar Raza Qazilbash has been asked to report to Establishment Division.

According to PM House spokesman taking strict notice of the bickering between the two federal ministers after the surfacing of Haj Scandal taking extreme action removed Azam Swati and Hamid Saeed Kazmi as their conflict was giving govt a bad name.

According to sources both the federal ministers were given repeated warnings by the PM to cease fire with regard to Hajj corruption but both the ministers ignoring the PM directives continued their bickering. PM took important personalities including the President before sacking the two ministers.

PM has appointed Syed Khursheed Shah as Minister for Religious Affairs. He has been given additional charge of Minister for Labour and Manpower, the spokesman said.

Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali has been appointed Minister for Information Technology. He has been given additional charge of Minister for Education.

Makhdoom Shahabuddin has been appointed Minister for Defence Production and given the additional charge of Minister for Health.

Secretary, Overseas Pakistanis Division, Mr. Saeed Khan has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The names of sacked federal minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Secretary Agha Sarwar Qazalbash and former DG Haj Rao Shakeel, have been put in Exit Control List (ECL).
