KARACH: In a daring dacoity move, dacoits cut down shutters of more than 40 shops and decamped with tens of thousands worth of electronic and mobile items.
The dacoity took place in mobile market located in Parrady ground’s Kohinoor electronic building, during Thursday/Friday midnight, whence dacoits literally cut down the steel shutters of shops, located on ground and first floors of the building, and looted rupees six million worth of mobile phones, cash and other valuables at relative ease and leisure.
Police sources have informed that the theft was reported only when the shopkeepers came to open their shops before Jumma prayers, and put the number of looted shops at 22, out of which 9 have been totally wiped of their goods.
The police sources have also regretted any initial estimates of dacoity, while one thing has been discerned that the dacoits were well informed of the location of well-stocked shops.
The local guard has been taken into custody for further investigations, while the shopkeeper launched a strong protest and sit-in on the famous M.A. Jinnah Road, causing a severe traffic jam.
The administration immediately summoned heavy contingents of police and rangers, who managed to hold a dialogue with shopkeepers, and ultimately pacify them.
