KARACHI: Former Federal Minister and Chairman Ansar Burney Trust Ansar Burney has requested the UK Government ‘not to allow’ entry into the country of Pakistani politician Maulana Fazlur Rehman due to his nefarious and extremist political background and known links with the Pakistani Taliban.
The head of the UK based law firm ‘Burney Legal Solicitors’, Ansar Burney, sent legal representations to the British Home Secretary Ms. Theresa May demanding the curtailment of any permission granted to Maulana Rehman to enter the UK and requested that the extremist politician be banned from ever entering the country.
Burney referred to the notorious statement and actions of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in stirring anti-west sentiments in Pakistan and promoting religious extremism in the remote parts of the country; and expressed trepidation that the extremist leader will spread similar hatred and promote terrorism in the UK if granted entry.
Ansar Burney, as Senior Partner of Burney Legal, further submitted his firm’s intentions to take the matter of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s entry to the High Court, if the British Government failed to act.
It is reminded here that Maulana is due in London to attend a meeting on Nov 25.
Meanwhile Maulana Fazl ur Rehman while talking to the media after condoling the death of PML-Q leader Mushahid Hussain’s mother said that he is in complete shock to hear about Ansar Burney’s allegations as he always thought of him as his friend, but he is disappointed on his action and said that he has always promoted peace and never indulged in an activity which would give Islam or his country a bad name.
Maulana further told the media that Burney can not influence a ban on his entry in UK although he can talk to the Pakistani government.
