22nd Convocation of Pakistan Navy Engineering College held

Karachi: A total of 147 graduates were awarded Bachelors of Engineering degrees at the 22nd convocation of Pakistan Navy Engineering College, a constituent college of National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), held at Bahria Auditorium here today. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir awarded degrees and medals to the students.

The graduating batch comprises 84 Pakistani and 01 Saudi Naval officer, and 62 NUST civilian students. Out of these students, 55 were awarded degrees in Mechanical Engineering, 14 in Electrical and 78 in Electronic Engineering.

Addressing the ceremony, Admiral Noman Bashir said that in the globalized world of today, only those stand chances to excel who possess knowledge and enjoy positive command in their respective fields of work. “The professional field, you are stepping in, is full of challenges. Your career will relentlessly test your competence, intellect, ingenuity and imagination. You, therefore, constantly strive hard to reach and maintain the zenith in your profession”, he urged the students.

Appreciating the achievements of PNEC, he said that the college has progressed tremendously by augmenting infrastructure in order to establish the learning process commensurate with the emerging technologies. He commended the distinctions achieved by the college in various curricular and co-curricular activities at various exhibitions, seminars and conferences. He said that dedicated research work at the college in important areas like Renewable Energy, Thermo Fluids, Secure Communication and Digital Data Recording, along with significant number of research publications in the Journals of International repute are the matter of great pride and satisfaction.

Rector NUST, Lieut General Muhammad Asghar in his address said that PNEC is actively pursuing its development objectives which involve revision of curricula, expansion of infrastructure, successful re-accreditation, industrial visits, extra curricular activities and initiation of new disciplines to keep abreast of the latest technological advancements. Through NUST, the college is making significant contribution towards education and technological development of the country, he added.

Earlier in his welcome address Commandant PN Engineering College highlighted salient features of degree programme at the college. He apprised the audience that presently the college is successfully conducting its BE, MS and PhD programmes in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Management Information System.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior naval officers and parents of the graduating students.
