Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the forum patronised by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has asked the people to intensify protests in the territory during US President, Barack Obama’s visit to India next week.
The General Secretary of the forum, Nisar Hussain Rather in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “We appeal to the people to intensify the protests during the US President’s Delhi visit and express their resentment towards the forced occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India.”
He urged the US President to play an effective role in settling the Kashmir dispute as per the relevant UN resolutions. “Obama claims to be the champion of bringing peace in the world. If he really wishes to establish peace in South Asia, he needs to help in resolving the Kashmir issue,” Rather added.
