US announce scholarship for Pak journalists

ISLAMABAD: The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) invites application from interested Pakistani nationals for Pakistan Professional Partnership Program for Journalists.

This program will involve journalist from both Pakistan and United States working together and building real professional relationship.

These journalist will have opportunity to learn about media reporting in each other’s countries, and to report back to their audiences about what they see and experience firsthand. This program funds up to four weeks beginning in Spring 2011 at a U.S Newsroom and that the program will be knit throughout with events and opportunities to experience U.S. life, showcasing its diversity.

The program will provide approximately 100-140 participants )in groups of 15-20 and over the period of two years) from Pakistan the opportunity to work with relevant, reputable, legally-recognized U.s. organizations where they will gain hands-on experiences with the journalism professionals in the United States, and provide the opportunity to establish relationship with U.S. professional counterparts for on-going collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria

Pakistani citizens.
Currently working in any field of journalism.
At least three years of active journalistic work experience.
Bachelor’s degree

Grant Benefits

All expenses for Pakistani participants are covered by the grant, including travel, accommodation, meals, and materials. Dependents are not allowed on this program.

Who is ineligible?

Applicant with a dual U.S./Pakistani nationality or those who have a parent, spouse, fiance or child over 18 years of age who is a U.s> citizen or permanent resident are ineligible. Employees of the Fulbright organization or the U.S department of state are ineligible as are the Fulbright and Humphrey Program alumni. People who have applied for immigration to any country are also ineligible.
