Ambassadors of Switzerland and USA present credentials to President

ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador designate of Switzerland and the Ambassador designate of USA on Wednesday presented credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari at an impressive ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to Spokesman of Presidency, Ambassadors called on the President separately and presented their credentials. In their separate meetings they discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
The President while felicitating the newly appointed Ambassadors to Pakistan hoped that they will work for further strengthening the existing ties of their respective countries with Pakistan.
Earlier, upon arrival of Mr. Christoph Bubb, Ambassador designate of Switzerland and Mr. Cameron P. Munter, Ambassador designate of USA, at the Presidency the National Anthems of Pakistan and their respective countries were played and the envoys were presented Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army.
According to Sources, President Zardari while talking to the US Ambassador said that Pakistan wants strong and stable relations with all countries including US urging the need that the cooperation between the two countries must not be limited to war against terrorism only.
He thanked US administration for lending a huge hand in one of the most testing times when Pakistan needed the most as sweeping floods had swept the entire country stressing US Aid was a blessing in disguise thus we are extremely grateful to them thick and thin.
According to Spokesman of US Embassy, speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Munter told the President, “I am looking forward to working with the democratically elected Government and with people around the country to strengthen our deep, long-term relationship based on honesty and mutual respect.”
The Ambassador expressed U.S. appreciation for Pakistan’s sacrifices in its ongoing fight against extremism and terrorism. He also assured the President of America’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic development, and for regional stability.
Ambassador Munter was joined at the ceremony by his wife, Ms. Marilyn Wyatt, and accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Stephen Engelken, Civilian Assistance Coordinator Ambassador Robin Raphel, Defense Attaché Colonel Joseph Abbott, and his personal staff.
