Peshawar mosque blast claims 4 lives

PESHAWAR: At least four people were killed and 24 others wounded in a planted bomb blast at Pashta Khara Mosque here on Friday.

As per details, the bomb planted in the courtyard had targeted the worshipers who were coming out of the mosque after offering Friday prayers resulting killing four and injuring 24 other persons. The window panes of nearby building were shattered by the bang of the blast. The injured were shifted to Hayat Abad Medical Complex and Khyber Teaching Hospital, where state of emergency was declared. Following the blast, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

CCPO Liaquat Ali talking to the media persons said that almost two KG explosive material was used in the blast, adding probably it was planted device.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the bomb blast in Peshawar on Friday, which caused loss of life and injuries.

The President and the Prime Minister in their separate messages expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of life and property and reiterated the government’s resolve not to be deterred by such acts of terror.

The two leaders directed that best possible medical treatment for the injured should be ensured. They also directed the concerned authorities to investigate the matter so that the culprits of this heinous act of terror could be nabbed and brought to justice.

The leaders of political parties and high officials have strongly denounced the bomb blast occurred in Peshawar. Chief Minister North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has condemned the blast and ordered inquiry report of the incident. Federal Ministers Rehman Malik, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, Mian Manzoor Watto, Shahbaz Bhatti, Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain, Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza, Deputy Speaker Fazal Karim Kundi and other political, social and religious organizations also denounced the blast and declared it as cowardly act.

Senior Provincial Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour speaking to the media persons said that the people involved in the terrorist activities are enemies of Pakistan and Islam as well, who targeted innocent children and old peoples in the blasts. He further said that they would not sit quietly till the elimination of militants, adding they took successful operation in Swat and ended militancy from the area.

Meanwhile, Provincial President of ANP, Afrasayab Khattak condemning the blast said that these people targeting mosques and worshipping places are neither muslim nor human being. He stated that militants could not weaken their courage and they would fight against terrorists till last breath. He appealed of the nation to unite against the militants as without ending them from the country, they could move forward for in the path of success.
