13 gunned down at Sher Shah Scrap market

KARACHI: Violence continues in Karachi as at least 13 people have been killed and many sustained critical injuries in shoot rampage at Sher Shah Scrap yard.

According to media reports, three day death toll in Karachi mounts to sixty as law enforcement agencies completely failed to counter the target killing. More than ten gunmen on cars and motor bikes continued nonstop firing for five minutes and manage to escape towards Pak colony.

Bodies and injured have been taken to the Civil, Jinah and Abbasi Shaheed hospital as state of emergency has been declared. People in large number gathered outside the hospitals after the incident.

After the incident the provincial government imposed section 144 as police and rangers cordon off the area and started clean up operation in Kabari market area, SSP Naveed Khawja told the media.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sher Shah Scrap market is comprised of more than two hundred shops where used items are sold. Soon after the firing incidents the shop keepers have left their shops opened as firing continues.

PPP leader Naveed Gabool and ANP leader Shahi Syed condemned the target killing and demanded the Army operation in Karachi as civil security agencies have completely failed in maintaining the law and order situation in the city.

PPP leader Naveed Gabool also said that the time has come that the Army should be called to control the situation in order to clean the city from terrorist elements. He also said that political parties should be clean from terrorist elements.
