President approves purchase of 40 new planes for PIA

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday has given formal approval regarding immediate purchase of 40 latest and sophisticated aeroplanes to make national airliner Pakistan International Air Line (PIA) more profitable and on modern lines.

According to details President Zardari wants to pull PIA from the financial crises hence gave approval concerning purchase of 40 aero planes.

President has directed Ministry of Defense to implement on the approval forthwith.

President went on to say that he wants PIA to stand on its feet like before thus will not terminate any government employee who was deployed at present or by the earlier government.

The Production Capability of Steel Mills will be bolstered by 7 times and in this regard joint ventures under Public Private Partnership would be started.

He said that new agreement will be inked with Russia and will provide sufficient funds and investment to enhance its capability thick and thin.
