Blinds Association observes ‘World Cane Day’

PESHAWAR: Blinds Association of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, on Friday observed the “World Cane Day” at Blinds School here on Friday where Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sitara Ayaz was the Chief Guest and a large number of blinds attended the event from all over the Province.
Addressing the function, the minister said that observing the World Cane Day meant that the special people were not forgotten adding that the government and the society were aware about their problems. She said her government had very ambitious plans for the special people but the recent natural disaster and the ongoing wave of terrorism delayed its plan.
She, however, added that with the passage of eighteenth amendment, the province would have enough powers and resources with which a lot of goodness would be done for the special people. Regarding implementation of 2 % quota of employment for physically handicapped, Sitara Ayaz said her department was already giving more than the said percentage and other departments were being persuaded to do so.
She said that all the problems of special people would be solved on priority basis. She also assured the Blinds Association that she would soon arrange a meeting of the blinds with the Chief Minister for solution of the bigger problems. She also assured the Association that she would also take steps for creating awareness about requirements of the blinds among the drivers and traffic police officials.
