Rawalpindi: General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, made farewell calls to officiating Engineer in Chief, Major General Asif Ali and Surgeon General, Lieutenant General Rehan Burney.

According to Army Spokesman, CJCSC is due to retire in the first week of October.

Sources say that Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir is the likely candidate to replace General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee.

Sources say that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in this regard will send a summary along with his sheer advice to President Zardari at the end of the week.

It must be said here that after 18th amendment, Prime Minister enjoys powers of appointment of Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee thus President has no choice but to abide by the advice of the respected PM in this regard.
