ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has made it clear that country was to be run by the politicians rather than bureaucrats.
“Technocrats would not be allowed to enjoy two entertainments in one ticket” said Prime Minister during his visit to Lahore.
“We have been contesting elections since 1985 and have come here after obtaining clearance from returning officer. No one has served us seat of MNA in some plate”, he remarked.
He went on to say that every institution points fingers on politicians that they were corrupt and they looted the country. On the other hand Kings Party was formed through local bodies election and corrupt politicians joined Kings party, he added. Endeavors are underway to revive this practice in the country, he pointed out.
“We are not product of army but we are elected representatives of people and we will ensure protection of democracy and parliament. We are not fearful of any conspiracy. Whenever some one comes he will come through votes from within the parliament”, he held.
“We respect the verdicts of judiciary and will implement them in accordance with the constitution passed by the parliament. However we will not allow any institution to transgress its limits nor will we overstep the limits of any one. We will get approve the new accountability bill from the parliament with consensus so that every one including politicians, judges, generals and bureaucracy could be held accountable under it”, he underlined.
When the issue of judiciary comes, all are united but when the turn of parliament comes then all are divided, he said.
He went on to say system of technocracy had failed in Bangladesh adding if technocrats have to enjoy authority then they should come through ballot, rule the country and declare their assets.
Replying to questions from NA members, minister for information Qamar Zaman Kaira said certain cities of the country were facing problem of shortage of petrol and main cause behind it was that gas supply was affected.
