Petroleum ministry forms raiding teams to monitor petrol scarcity

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of petroleum has constituted teams to monitor black marketing of petroleum products in the country that has been tasked to raid at different petrol pumps to check quality and prices of petrol amid prevailing severe scarcity of petrol in the country.

According to details minister for petroleum headed a meeting here on Tuesday to review prevailing scarcity of petrol in the country and availability of petrol in the country and directed to constitute raiding committees to check prices of petrol in the country as complaints have been receiving related to black marketing of the petrol across the country.

The minister was informed that there have been 18 days petrol available in the country and the scarcity of petrol in the country was resultant of problems in the supply to the petrol stations across the country.

The meeting was also briefed that PARCO, Attock oil refinery and National Oil refinery were producing oil according to the needs of the country approximately 400Tonne per day and the prevailing shortage has been created owing to the connivance of petrol dealers.

Meanwhile PSO, Managing Director addressing a conference on Tuesday also informed that that Punjab Government has owed Rs50 billion to PSO and the federal government has owed Rs12 billion to PSO and PSO has been supplying fifty per cent of oil consumption in the country.
