India deploys more troops in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: India has deployed hundreds of additional troops in occupied Kashmir in a bid to quell pro-freedom and anti-India mass protests in the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deployment comes after troops once again fired on pro-freedom protesters, killing three civilians and injuring dozens on Friday.

Eyewitnesses said that the army personnel were deployed in strength along Srinagar-Baramulla highway while heavily armed troopers of Rashtriya Rifles were reportedly patrolling highways and townships in South Kashmir.
