Nowshera : UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has arrived in Pakistan with her delegation to draw world attention towards the plight of 21 million people affected by the country’s worst-ever floods, the UN refugee agency said.
On Tuesday she visited Khandro Camp in Risalpur Nowshera and met with flood affectees.
Angelina met with the flood victims and she expressed grief over the plight of condition of children and women in the camps and lauded the courage and braveness of the people.
She distributed the gifts and commodities among the children.
This is the fourth visit by Jolie to Pakistan since she became a UNHCR goodwill ambassador in 2001.
Last week Jolie released a video message appealing for greater public support for Pakistan’s relief efforts, and she has herself donated 100,000 US dollars to the flood appeal.
The UNHCR is providing relief aid including shelter materials to those displaced by the disaster, which has killed 1,760 people by the official toll.
