Official claims regarding ending of target killing fell flat on the face of the Provincial government, in wake of intermittent incidents of fresh wave of target killings in the Metropolitan City.

On Thursday noon unknown persons, waiting in ambush, fired a volley of automatic fire on a Blue Mehran car fatally injuring PIA Cargo employee Lala Obaidullah Yousaf Zai and an accompanying citizen commuter Saleem Akhtar. Both succumbed on their way to hospital.

The deceased Obaidullah Zai was an active activist and youth leader of ANP. News of his death sparked violent riots by ANP sympathizers, who stoned vehicles and resorted to aerial firing. Unknown persons also rioted in areas of Gulistan Johar, Rabia city, Pehalwan Goth, SITE, and other areas, torching vehicles.

Meanwhile unknown persons in Katti hillock, fired upon one Obaid s/o Ghulam Rasool, killing him, while injuring Shoaib, s/o Mansoor, and Shamshad s/o Ramzan.

In another such incident, unknown persons opened fire on a coaster in Qauid abad area wounding three, while another fire on an official vehicle, injuring an unknown person.

A series of violence, riots, arson, and torching of vehicles followed the fresh wave of killings and assaults, which created anarchy, chaos and severe traffic jam, while many shops and business concerns were forced to close down or remained closed in face of mounting anarchy in the City.
