In Karachi traders and business community has faced loss of Rs 14 billion due to worsening law and ordered situation in the city that erupted after unknown gunmen killed at least 45 people in Pakistan’s largest city after the assassination of a prominent lawmaker set off a cycle of revenge attacks.
Dozens of vehicles and shops were set ablaze as security forces struggled to regain control of Karachi.
As per sources, after the killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA, Raza Haider here on Monday, Karachi once again has come across with the worse situation.
As all the industrial centers, banks and big commercial markets including Bolton Market, Jodia Bazaar, Jamia Cloth, Mothan Das Market, Electronic market, Medicine Market, Kharadar Furniture Market, Aram Bagh Market, II Chandrighar Road, Empress Market, Haidri Market, Liaqatabad Market and Tariq Road were closed, whereas, 90 per cent employees were not present in the offices.
President Karachi Chamber of Commerce, Haji Abdul Majeed stated that the recent wave of terrorism has badly destroyed the commercial activities. While there were very low very attendants in offices which affected the whole industry at large.
