Twenty-three people were killed, 21 sustained injuries due to flood and land sliding in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Skardu and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
Sources said that 5 bridges including dozens of houses and shops have been destroyed. Due to breakage in Bank of Lodhi Abad Lake Lakri Nullah has become flooded while the road link of 9 districts of Independence State have been disconnected with Muzaffarabad.
Prime Minster (PM) AJK, Sardar Ateeq Ahmad has paid visit of affected areas of rain and flood. He directed to the administration to speed up their rescue operations.
In Bagh near By-Pass due to flooding in drainage, 2 schools and 40 shops have become inundated, on the other hand due to rampant rise in water level in Mangla Dam and Zalzla Lake threats of huge flood in the area exists.
Talking to private TV channel, Chief Minister GB, Syed Mehdi Shah said that an emergency meeting has been called to plan out how to tackle floods, land sliding and storms.
Water level has been increased in Jehlum River while during the last two days the causality figure has reached upto 25. The administration of district Hatainbala and Muzaffarabad has directed to all inhabitants to shift to safer places who are residing on the bank of Jehlum river to vacate that area as soon as possible.
While various shops, mosques, hotels and houses have been submerged in Kali Mandi, Lower Plane, Shaukat Lane etc.
