Raja Farooq resigns as AJK PM

Prime Minister Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Raja Farooq Haider has tendered his resignation saying he has been forced for taking unconstitutional and illegal steps.

According to details the Prime Minister, AJK while addressing a press conference here on Monday at Kashmir House announced that he had sent his resignation to the President AJK, Raja Zulqarnain Khan. He lambasted the President Muslim Conference, Sardar Atiq and said that the latter had started conspiracies from the very first day when he became premier.

Raja Farooq Haider said that he worked for Kashmir cause, demanded share in NFC Award from federal government, raised voice for the rights of their people while Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Mian Manzoor Watto continuously interfered in his affairs. He said that he had tried his level best to perform his duties with full devotion but Sardar Atiq from the very beginning tried to create hurdles for him.

He further said that PPP had tabled no confidence motion against him while no member of Muslim Conference had endorsed the motion. Raja Farooq Haider thanked Quaid PML-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif for his support. He said that some minister wanted him to appoint their relatives while Mian Manzoor Watto had demanded commission from him.

It is pertinent to mention that AJK legislative assembly session has been summoned on Monday in connection with no confidence motion against former Premier, Raja Farooq Haider.

President Muslim Conference, Sardar Atiq said that no confidence motion was a parliamentary procedure adding that fate of new prime minister would be announced in few days. He said that our priorities are freedom of Kashmir and rehabilitation of earthquake affectees. He said he did not want to indulge in blame game. Change is part of democratic system he remarked.

He further said that other political parties had promised him for support and he would get 2/3 majority.
