Death toll in Balochistan rises to 47

The number of deaths in Balochistan has crossed the figure of 40 and still several people are still missing as number of villages were washed away due to heavy rains and floods in the province.

Deputy Commissioner Bharkan has said that more than 100 houses were damaged while 47 were dead, reported by the media.

He said that Kohlu and Bharkan areas of Balochistan suffer up to RS 100 billion damages, adding a relief camp has been setup at Nar Kot areas.

The transportation system in Bharkan has also been severely damaged and three main bridges were destroyed.

Several areas of Nasirabad, Dera Murad Jamali, Jhag Magsi, Bolan and other parts of the province were also inundated.

Sindh-Balochistan National Highway was closed for every type of traffic due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, nearly 400 Jawans of Pakistan Army reached in the area and started the shifting of people to safer areas through helicopters and boats.

Director General PDMA, Hassan Baloch while talking to a private TV channel has confirmed 30 deaths in Barkhan while over 20 are still missing.

He said that temporary camps have been step for affected people.

Chairman National Diastase Management Authority (NDMA), Lt Gen (retd) Nadeem Ahmed while talking to a private TV channel said that the priority of the authority is to provide relief to affected people in flood-hit areas.

He said the rehabilitation and awareness campaign is to follow, adding the authority would ensure constant supply of food in affected areas.

Meanwhile, the railway service from Quetta to other areas of the country has been suspended for two days as railway tracks in the province were severely damaged due to torrential rains.

Spokesperson of Pakistan Railway while talking to a private TV channel, said that the rail service was suspended due to uncertain situation emerging due to heavy rains and floods.

He said that railway station of Dangra and Dambola in Sukkar Division were inundated, adding repair work of railway tracks has been started.
