Rain plays havoc: 5 killed as country receives heavy downpour

At least five persons were killed and 76 sustained injuries due to heavy rain in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and AJK while rain spell is expected to continue till next 24 hours.
According to Metrological department, monsoon winds are entering in Punjab and Kashmir from Arabian Sea, which would cause heavy rain in different areas.
The different areas of Punjab including Lahore received heavy downpour during last 24 hours. Lahore has received 190 mm rain, Dera Ghazi Khan received 80 mm, Garhi Dopatta and Muzaffarabad received 55 mm and Jhang received 20 mm rain.
The water inundate in Lakshmi chowk, GPO Chowk, Garhi Shaho, Shahdara and north Lahore. A 12-year-old boy Bilal died due to electric shock owing to heavy rains in Shafiqabad. One person was killed when the wall fall due to heavy downpour in Lahore while 8 sustained injuries when roof of temple fall.
Another person died in Gujranwala when roof of the house caved while 35 people injured when another roof of a house caved in in Mandi Bha Uddin. An eleven-year-old boy electrocuted in Sialkot.
In wake of heavy rains in the province Chief Minister Secretariat has set up cell to relief the rain affectees.
According to Chief Mythologist Lahore Hazrat Mir, flood in Indus river Tarbela, Kala Bagh and gaddu is low level.
Middle level flood has been recorded in Kabul River in Nowshehra. Water inflow in Warsik dam is 68,830 cusecs with middle level flood. Low-level flood is recorded in river Jehlum in Mangla dam and in Chanab in Marala.
Further rains are expected in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa during next 24 hours while weather would remain hot and dry on 24, 25 and 26 July.
New series of rains would start from 27 July and flood is expected in Peshawar, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Tonsa and Gujranwala division.
