Miandad meets Zardari: Pakistan cricket team needs to show performance

Director General Pakistan Cricket Board Javed Miandad on Thursday met with President Asif Ali Zardari and discussed problems being faced by the Pakistani cricket.

According to President House sources, the meeting took place on the request of Javed Miandad. During the meeting views were exchanged on matters related to the Pakistan Cricket Board administration and the overall performance of the cricket team.

President said that there is not only need to improve the performance of the cricket team but continuity in winning the matches is inevitable so that it could become the champion cricket team as it was 10 years ago.

He said that the standard of cricket team needs to be brought up and for this it is imperative that improvement is made at the domestic cricket level.

He said that govt is paying attention to promoting sports including cricket in the country.

Later talking to media DG PCB Javed Miandad told that the President has instructed him to continue working as DG and has assured that the problems faced by the cricket team would be resolved. He said that President not only understands cricket but is taking a keen interest in improving the national sport.

He told that the Pakistani cricket team is in a lull we have the world’s best bowling attack but we lack good batsman. It is imperative that the team players show their commitment to play for their country not for their individual selves.

He said that it seems difficult that Pakistan would win the test series against Australia if Pakistan wants to survive than its batsmen need to show performance and stay on wickets.
