Pakistan Navy ship Babur, carrying 16 rescued Pakistanis arrives

Pakistan Navy ship Babur arrived here on Saturday, carrying sixteen Pakistanis who were rescued by Pakistan Navy from a cargo boat which sunken down near Somalian coast.

According to a press release issued by Naval Headquarters, a Pakistani registered boat “Al-Anwari” carrying cargo from Oman to Somalian sunk off the North Somalian coast due to rough sea and inclement weather.

A US Ship operating in the area initially spotted the sunken boat and gave a distress call to Pakistan Navy Ship Babur which was deployed as Part of anti piracy operations being undertaken in Somalian waters by Coalition Task Force (CTF) 151.

The crew of sinking boat was rescued by a PN helicopter and ferried to PNS Babur where they were provided with the food and required medical treatment. Upon stabilizing their condition , the rescued persons were ferried to Karachi where necessary arrangements were made by Pakistan Navy for their further rehabilitation.
