Zardari meets Chinese counterpart: Pak-China ink 4 MoUs

President Asif Ali Zardari and President Hu Jintao held a one on one meeting here Wednesday.

The two leaders discussed ways to boost Pak-China bilateral relations in all spheres, besides regional and international situation. The one on one meeting scheduled for 30 minutes lasted for one hour.

The exclusive meeting was followed by a delegation level meeting.

Meeting of Pak and China delegations led by respective Presidents started on the conclusion of one on one meeting between President Zardari and President Hu Jintao in the Great Hall of People in Beijing.

Pak side included Defense and Petroleum Ministers and official members of delegation. Chinese side includes FM and ministers of commerce, transport and energy and senior officials. During the meetings Pakistan and China inked agreement on economic and technical cooperation and certificate for the exchange of instrument of ratification of the agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

Memorandum of Understanding was inked in the field of health. MoU was signed between Geological survey of Pakistan and China geological survey. Another MoU was signed between PBC and China Radio intl. for CRI s Urdu broadcast in select Pakistani cities and an MoU was signed between food Pakistan and China.

Senior officials from both Pakistan and China including the presidents were present during the signing ceremony.

China would also provide Pakistan aid of 50 million Yen, which would be used to improve various sectors

The weeklong visit is Zardari’s fifth since he came to office in September 2008, underscoring the close diplomatic, military and commercial ties between the neighbors.

President Zardari met Wednesday with Chinese business leaders and pointed out investment opportunities in Pakistan’s ailing energy sector

China agreed in 2008 to build two nuclear power plants for its neighbor.
