LHC directs govt to stop drone attacks

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the government to take strict measures to have drone attacks halted inside Pakistan.

According to media reports, the LHC has disposed off the petition filed by al lawyer, Sardar Aziz against drone attacks inside Pakistan.

It was requested in the petition to ask the federal government for a comprehensive report on an agreement or treaty with the United States and Black Water on drone attacks.

The petition maintained that the government should also provide details on number of drone attacks inside Pakistan’s tribal areas, people killed in these attacks and compensation provided to victims.

The LHC, in its judgment, issued directives to government to have drone strikes stopped if they are happening sans consent of Pakistani government.
