Govt would not compromise on maintaining minimum credible deterrence: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that despite financial constraints the government would not compromise on maintaining minimum credible deterrence and would take all steps to meet the requirements of the defense forces of the country.

He was talking to Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, who called on him at PM’s House here on Monday.

The Prime Minister said that world has recognized the critical role played by Pakistan in the war against militancy and desire to help us in this regard. He said that many developed countries have offered to provide necessary defense equipment in order to enable the security apparatus of the country to fight against this menace.

Congratulating the defense Ministry on the induction of new F-16 fighter jets, the Prime Minister said that it would augment strength of our defense capabilities of our armed forces, against any possible security threat.

The Minister for Defence informed the Prime Minister about various activities of the Ministry. He also briefed about the ongoing development activities in his constituency.
