Hajj policy for 2010 to be announced today

Hajj Policy –2010 will be announced today and minister for religious affairs will announce the policy.

About 159647 pilgrims including 80000 under government Hajj scheme and 79000 through private operators will perform hajj this year.

Saudi government will issue visas on only machine-readable passport. It will be mandatory to attach a medical fitness certificate issued by authorized medical officer with the Hajj form. Those who had performed Hajj during the last five years cannot file Hajj form.

PIA has decided to fix Hajj fare at Rs 76400 from Karachi to Quetta this year. The Hajj forms can be filed with the branches of HBL, UBL, National Bank, MCB, Allied Bank and Zarai Tarqaiti bank limited.

The ministry for religious affairs contacted other airlines to seek reduction in hajj fare but no airlines agreed to it.

Under government scheme ministry of religious affairs will make booking of pilgrims and under private scheme, booking will be made by Hajj group organizers.

No VIP flight will be allowed this year, however members of parliament and their family members can avail concession in terms of their short stay in Saudi Arabia.

Those who had failed in Hajj draw-2009 and had not taken back their money from banks can fly to Saudi Arabia for performance of Hajj without draw.

Ministry for religious affairs has made residential arrangements for pilgrims in Old Mina for 2010. Ministry has selected one place for residential purpose of pilgrims in Arafat under government Hajj scheme.
