UN formally requested for return of missing Pakistanis

Pakistan has formally requested to the United Nations for the safe return of Pakistanis including well-known journalist Talat Hussain and others after Israel’s attack on a flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip with aid.

According to media reports, Pakistan’s permanent envoy in the United Nations, Amjad Basial requested to UN’s Security Council to ensure safe return of Pakistani journalist Talat Hussain, Raza Mehmood Agha and Nadeem Ahmed Khan.

The head of UN Security Council assured to Pakistani envoy that the World Body would fully cooperate with Pakistan in this regard.

The Pakistani envoy has declared Israel’s attack on a flotilla as an open aggression.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minster Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that he talked with US Special Representative on Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke for the safe recovery of Pakistanis.

According to a private TV channel, the foreign minister said that the issue was discussed with the United States and he was given assurance by Holbrooke that all three Pakistanis are safe and sound and there is no threat to their lives and they would be sent to the country soon.
