Over 400 military officers promoted to the rank of Col, Brigadier

Meeting of Promotion Board (PB) has concluded here Monday under the army chief Gen Pervez Ashfaq Kiayani and over 400 military officers have been promoted to the rank of colonel and brigadier.
Military sources told PB meeting lasted 3 days under army chief who reviewed every case in connection with promotion personally.
Sources told overall 1193 cases were put up before the army chief for promotion, which involved promotion from the rank of Lt Col to Col, Lt Col to Brig and Col to Brig.
Online has learnt over all 413 officers have been elevated to higher ranks. Among them 300 have been promoted from the rank of Lt Col to Col, 69 officers have been elevated directly from the rank of Lt Col to Brig and 44 colonels have been promoted as Brigadiers.
Army chief considered the performance of 6 officers as extraordinary outstanding after having reviewed their cases and they will stand promoted as Brigadier after one year automatically by virtue of it. They have been promoted under the formula of fit brigadier two steps. Overall 113 officers have been elevated to the rank of brigadier while 300 have been promoted as colonel.
Sources told those who have been promoted as Brigadier will be transferred to new posts as 29 brigadiers have been promoted as major general and their vacant posts will be filled by the newly promoted brigadiers.
