Thousands of women activists of Jammat-e-Islami took out a rally in protest against a planned contest of blasphemous caricatures on Face Book, on Wednesday demanding the UN and the OIC to take notice of this “cyber terrorism”.

The rally was held at Mazar-e-Quaid, which was attended by not merely thousands of JI women activists, but ordinary female citizens, and children despite a hot and humid day.

The protestors, led by JI women leaders, Ayesha Munawwar, Afshan Naveed, Durdana Siddiqui, and Tasneem Moazzam, were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the planned contest.

Addressing the rally, the veteran politician, and JI deputy chief, Professor Ghafoor Ahmad warned that no single Muslim would tolerate the blasphemy of prophet Mohammad (be peace upon Him) at any cost.

“ The West by promoting and supporting such humiliating and provocative ideas, is proving itself as an extremist society”, Ghafoor said.

He said the presence of thousands of women in the protest rally proved that Muslims could bear anything except the blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad (be peace Upon Him. Therefore, he added, the West must review its policies of confrontation and provocation.

“ NO doubt, the United States is the sole superpower in the world, but it must keep this fact in view, that many superpowers have witnessed the rise and fall in near past”, he said and added “ The so-called superpower instead of eliminating injustices, is patronizing atrocities and repression against Muslims”.

Deploring the silent role of Islamic governments on the issue, the JI leader observed that the Muslim nations were standing on one side, while their rulers were standing along side the oppressors.

The JI Karachi chief , Mohammad Hussain Mahanti said that the West was fanning the clash of religions in the world by promoting such humiliating actions in the name of freedom of speech.

He said that Muslims did not merely oppose the blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad (be peace upon Him), but also against Prophet Jesus, and Prophet Moses (be peace upon them), because they were the messengers of Allah.

He demanded of the government to lodge a strong protest over the planned contest at all forums, including the UN and the United States, and convey the feelings of Pakistanis on the said issue.

The JI leader also hailed the Lahore High Court’s verdict vis-à-vis blockade of Face Book in Pakistan.
