JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that he has been ready to play conciliatory role between the Government and Taliban but till now neither government nor military have responded positively to his offer.

Talking to media on Wednesday in Shabqadar, he said that being part of PPP’s led coalition government he has not been satisfied with overall performance of the incumbent government and used to pinpoint weaknesses of the ruling alliance.

He also reiterated that mistrust that has created restrictions for the functioning of MMA would be soon eliminated and MMA would be restored to its former status.

JUI-F chief further emphasized that conviction of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik was a judicial affair, however if the presidency has constitutional power to indemnify then President Zardari could exempt Rehman Malik from the conviction.
