NAB team brings Hamesh Khan back to Pakistan

A team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrived here on Friday from New York bringing back Hamesh Khan, the prime accused in Bank of Punjab loan scam.

Two senior officers of NAB including deputy prosecutor general Raja Aamir and NAB Punjab Deputy Director, Rizwan Khan brought Hamesh Khan from New York who had left for US four days back for this purpose.

An official of Pakistan embassy also accompanied the NAB team back to Pakistan to oversee the conduct of police or NAB officials with Hamesh Khan. Foolproof security has been provided to Hamesh Khan. As soon NAB team alighted from the plane along with Hamesh Khan, officials of NAB Punjab took him into their custody. Police and Elite Force escorted Hamesh Khan.

NAB sources informed that Hamesh Khan would be produced in accountability court any time today and request would be made to the court to obtain his remand.

The Supreme Court (SC) has summoned Hamesh Khan on May, 26 in a case pertaining to his alleged involvement in embezzlement of 9 billion rupees.

Chairman NAB has directed all the officers of NAB to treat Hamesh Khan as per law and he be not subjected to any maltreatment.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, counsel for Hamesh Khan has said his client has not pocketed any commission and the allegations of embezzlement and corruption leveled against him are false and he will defend him at every levels.
