SC summons Hamesh Khan on May 26

Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned prime accused in the Bank of Punjab corruption case Hamesh Khan on May 26.

The case hearing started on Friday by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Ch.

NAB director Rahat Rouf told the court that NAB team would be bringing back Hamesh Khan to Lahore tonight where he would be kept in custody in Chamba House and would be brought to Islamabad for SC hearing on May 26. He told that Hamesh Khan would be provided all necessary facilities in accordance with the law. He assured the CJ that he would not be meted out any ill treatment.

CJ in his remarks said that lawyers who were given heavy amounts of money by Sheikh Afzal would also be dealt with in accordance with the law and if Sh Afzal had made false statements about lawyers than action would also be taken against him.

Sh Afzal had accused Sahrif ud din Pirzada, Babar Awan, Malik Qayyum and Sarfaraz Merchant of receiving huge sum of money from Hamesh Khan and in return he (Hamesh) was assured that the court would not take action against him and he would be acquitted.

NAB was presented by Rahat Rouf, investigative officer Aftab. While FIA was presented by its legal director Azam Kahn and Khwaja Haris Advocate represented Bank of Punjab.

The court adjourned the hearing till May 26.
