Pak agencies clear Shahzad’s father: FBI team seeks permission to visit Jamat ud Dawah headquarter

Pakistan’s investigation agencies have cleared Air Vice Marshal ® Bahar ul Haq, father of Faisal Shahzad who is currently under detention in the Times Square bomb conspiracy. An FBI team also had a meeting with Faisal’s father.

The FBI team has also sought permission from the Pakistani government to visit the Jamaat ud Dawah’s headquarter.

Reliable sources have informed that the FBI team was not allowed to separately meet Air Vice Marshal ® Bahar ul Haq and it met with him in presence of the Pakistani investigation agencies. However, the retired Vice Marshal has been cleared and security deputed for his protection has also been withdrawn.

According to sources, the FBI team headed by Smith Carol also visited Lahore, which included four FBI officials attached with the US embassy and two other personnel accompanying Smith Carol. The FBI team also held a meeting with officials of joint investigation cell and sought permission to visit Jamat ud Dawah’s headquarter in
Murid Kay to acquire information in respect of Faisal Shahzad’s connections with outlawed Lashkar-e-Tayyaba. However Pakistani government did not express consent on the request.

Sources further informed that senior officers of Pakistani investigation agencies accompany the FBI team, as the latter has not been allowed to independently meet with any person. During the course of these investigations, Rehman, a friend of Faisal Shahzad has shared some important information relating to the connections of Faisal Shahzad. In the light of this information, the FBI team will take forward the investigation process.
