CJ refuses to meet newly appointed AG

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has refused to meet the newly appointed Attorney General (AG) of Pakistan Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq.

According to details the newly appointed AG went to the Supreme Court to meet CJ in his chamber but despite of waiting for a long time he could not call on the CJ.

It is pertinent to mention that a contempt of court petition is pending against the newly appointed AG in Supreme Court. The sources said that the newly appointed AG had taken the oath under PCO but after the SC issued verdict regarding PCO judges he apologized from the court unconditionally and started practice as a lawyer.

The sources further stated that Ministry of Law and Justice has appointed him AG on the recommendation of Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr Babar Awan because the Attorney General’s father was the teacher of Law Minister.
