Child killed, 9 injured in Peshawar blast

A child has been killed nine wounded in a bomb blast outside the Police Public School on Jamrood road here on Monday.

According to details a bomb that was planted in a tuck-shop outside the main gate of Police Public School exploded with a massive bang as a result one child died on the scene and Nine other people get injured who were shifted to Khyber teaching hospital.

DSP Haroon Rasheed talking to media informed that the bomb was detonated with a mobile phone and intensity of the blast was so massive that its bang was heard across the city adding that at the time of explosion the school time was over and only few children were present in the school.

The dead was a student of 7 to 8 years old and the injured including six children have been rushed to the Khyber Teaching Hospital in the city, the hospital told.

Bomb-disposal squad also informed that approximately 2 Kg explosive materials was utilized in the explosion including ball-bearings and owing to massive blast two vehicles parked at the school gate were demolished completely.

Police and law enforcement agencies reaching on the blast-spot immediately cordoned off the area and initiated search operation in the area to avert any further untoward incident in the adjacent areas. Emergency was declared in all the major three hospitals of the city

Meanwhile Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemning the bomb blast has sought a report from IG NWFP.
