President to sign 18th amendment bill today

The signing ceremony of the eighteenth constitutional amendment bill will be held in the Presidency today (Monday).

Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that President Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Sunday morning PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif and invited him to witness the ceremony.

The Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has accepted the invitation and will be attending the signing ceremony in the Presidency today (Monday).

The Spokesperson said that arrangements are being finalized for a ceremony befitting the historical occasion of reforming the constitution and ridding it of all undemocratic clauses inserted into it by successive dictatorships.

According to official sources, Provincial Chief Ministers, Governors, country’s military leadership and leadership of Political Parties would attend the ceremony and invitation letters have also been dispatched to them. After signing of 18th amendment bill by the President, all the powers would be transmitted to Prime Minister from President.
