An explosion outside Overseas Pakistani Foundation (OPF) college in sector H-8 on Tuesday caused panic and terror among residents of Federal Capital, however, no loss of life was reported.
The blast took place inside garbage skip placed at greenbelt outside the college. The blast also recalled memories of twin suicide bombing in International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), which left 11 students dead and dozen other injured.
The intensity of blast was so low but its voice was heard in area of several kilometers. High-level Police officials and rescue teams arrived at the site. The law enforcement agencies cordoned of the whole area.
The blast occurred at start of new educational year in educational institutes of Federal Capital. At the time of blast, a function was underway in OPF College. It may be recalled here there are many prominent educational institutes including Beacon house and City School.
