Twenty people have been killed and scores injured as a blast ripped through a rest house in Timergarah lower dir where the ANP workers had gathered at the Rest House to celebrate the renaming of NWFP.
The bomber detonated his explosives as hundreds of activists of the Awami National Party (ANP) were gathered in Lower Dir district at a rest house to celebrate the renaming of the NWFP, reported a private TV channel.
‘More than 15 people were killed and 25 to 30 were injured,’ said DIG Malakand Division.
He said initial investigations suggest that it was a suicide blast, however no confirmation could be made at this point.
Rescue work is underway as people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. The dead and the injured have been shifted to District Headquarter Hospital.
